“I shouldn’t eat that bc I’ve been lazy all day,” “It’s ok to eat that because I’ll work out later, right?” “I worked out this morning so I deserve to eat that” “ugh I need to work out, I’ve eaten so much”. As much as I hate to admit it, I’m guilty of making these comments. Words cannot describe my anger toward our diet culture that has convinced me that I’m only deserving of certain foods if I work for it, otherwise I can’t have it. I challenge you, to join me in challenging yourself to quit believing these harmful thoughts. To fight against this negative self talk, reminding yourself that you are deserving of food whether your exercise or not. Contrary to diet culture beliefs, You are allowed to actually enjoy food, without obsessing over calories and exercise, without the false categories of “good” and “bad” foods. Your body NEEDS food, always. So listen to what your body is asking you for and give it to it, without feelings of shame or guilt. I understand it’s much easier said than done, but please, I challenge you to change your mindset. But as always-progress, not perfection. |image from@fgrlsclub| •
